Yesterday was my first day on The Hill, and it was pretty hectic. I liked the people I worked on, but I had an emotional good bye with my mother... :(
But, today, my second day, I won the front row ticket for the Swearing-In of the House of Representatives! Our office had 1 ticket and about 10 staffers and interns' names in a drawing; I was so surprised when the rectangular, bright orange ticket was given to me at my front desk. Essentially, all those tickets were for the friends and families of Congress-people; I felt a little out of place, but I still took full advantage of my opportunity. I was scared to be seen as pretentious, so I was really confused when I should sit or stand when a speaker would say something profound or exciting.
I have just moved into my friend's house in Virginia, and I'm so tired - I would love to further explain my days and will keep you posted.
